Bremen
My final stop in the trip to all 3 city-states in Germany ended up in Bremen. In the Berlin Beach Camp, I met some guys, who were also making an exchange program in Bremen and in Dortmund. We exchanged our phone numbers and I already knew I was going to go to Bremen, so when I was in Hamburg we talked and set that meeting. I was going to arrive in Bremen on Friday afternoon and just wanted to stay overnight for one day.
The Polish guy, which was named as “Önder” by us, because he was really into learning Turkish so we gave him a Turkish name. Bremen was not that big as I thought before. I just left my luggage in the lockers in the main train station and we also didn’t take the tram. We just walked around in the city. Of course we made pictures with the very famous sculpture of the Bremen Musicians. The thing about that sculpture is if you touch the chin of the donkey, it will bring you love and if you touch the feet, then you’ll get some money. I hope I remember it correctly. Anyway I did both, well up to now, I didn’t get anything. It is probably some sort of a legend-lie. (:
Later on we met with 3 other Turkish guys. We’ve seen the Becks factory, the big source of beer. Actually I didn’t know that it was in Bremen. Well, how did our ancestors say? Not much of a reader, but much of a traveler. I guess they were true. After spending a couple of hours, walking around in the city, we got together with the friends of my friends who were also making an exchange program. They were all going to the same college and living in Bremen, so they knew the city quite well.
We went to the 1€ bar, we went to some disco till 4.30 or 5 am. It was already light outside. I wanted to head for Heidelberg for the next day. And the train ride was going to take me around 6, 7 hours, so I just decided to not to sleep and got on the earliest train possible and sleep there. There was one at 07 something and I got that one. With no sleep whatsoever, I got on the train and headed to Heidelberg…
