Firefox in China
China is the second largest Internet market after USA with approx. 137 million users. And right now there are around 90 million Firefox users all around the world and just 1 million of these users are in China. Pretty low.
Internet Explorer 7 has been installed by more than 100 million people. This makes it, the second most used browser in US, being defeated by only its brother IE 6. Vista will surely affect these numbers in the positive manner.
These led Mozilla to open an office in China.
One more reason, that may prove Mozilla’s China move right is, with the recent progresses, recent events; using pirated software in China has become much more dangerous. This may be the chance that open source is looking for. Of course Mozilla Firefox is standing right around the corner.
We’ll see as time passes, whether Mozilla China can catch up its sibling Mozilla Japan which now has 9% of the market…
